Keep your eyes peeled this week, you just might spot a familiar South Dakota teacher face off on the Fox TV game show “The Floor.”
Kelsey Bucholz, an English and math teacher and head golf coach at Garretson High School, might be stepping into the spotlight. Known for her competitive spirit and love for game shows, Bucholz is no stranger to the national game show stage.
In fact, this wouldn’t be her first appearance on a televised game show. As Pigeon 605 reports, she competed on Wheel of Fortune back in January 2016. That experience was a rollercoaster: she solved a puzzle, missed another, landed on “Bankrupt,” and still walked away with more than $7,500. Not too bad for your first time out.

Now, she may get her shot at a second national appearance, this time on The Floor, a high-stakes trivia showdown hosted by Rob Lowe and filmed in Dublin, Ireland.
If you’re like me, unfamiliar with The Floor, here’s how it works:
-
100 contestants (two from each U.S. state) are brought in, but not all will compete.
-
Those chosen go head-to-head in fast-paced “duels,” identifying images and answering questions.
-
The goal? To hold onto as much time as possible, whoever finishes with the most time wins their opponent’s square on the game board.
-
More squares mean more power, and the contestant with the most at the end of the episode wins $40,000 (or $20,000 on non-premiere nights).
-
Win, and you stay in the mix. Lose a duel, and you’re out, banished from the floor.
The odds are steep, just a 1% chance of walking away as the grand prize winner…
