ROCK RAPIDS—A 43-year-old rural George man already in jail was further charged Wednesday, Oct. 8, on three counts of violation of a no contact/protective order.
The additional charges against Daniel Martin Newby stemmed from staff at the Lyon County Jail in Rock Rapids discovering he had contacted an individual he was not to have contact with through the jail’s phone system on Monday, Oct. 6, according to the sheriff’s office
Law enforcement discovered Newby exchanged at least 16 text messages with the protected individual from about 3:10 p.m. until about 4:30 p.m., when jail staff blocked the number, according to the incident report…
