ACLU Urges City to Demand Transparency on Operation Prairie Thunder

{KXLG, Sioux Falls, SD} The ACLU of South Dakota is calling on Sioux Falls city leaders to take action regarding Operation Prairie Thunder — the multi-agency law enforcement initiative launched this summer by Governor Larry Rhoden to reduce crime and support U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in deportation operations.

The ACLU has started a petition asking the Sioux Falls City Council to require greater oversight and transparency of the program, which combines anti-crime patrols with cooperative enforcement among the Highway Patrol, Department of Corrections, and National Guard.
