Throwback Thursday: Thomas Fawick and the statues of David and Moses

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – On this edition of Throwback Thursday, Lori Kent with the Local Lou Podcast tells us about Thomas Fawick and the statues of David and Moses.

“We’ve gotten to learn a little more bout Fawick Park, about this inventor, Thomas Fawick, who created the first four-door car in the United States. Pretty big deal, love those. He was born in Sioux Falls. He became this famous inventor, he moved to Ohio, and lived the rest of his life there, but he never forgot where he came from. He never forgets his hometown,” said Kent.

In 1971, Fawick returned to Sioux Falls to receive an honorary degree from Augustana University, but he also gifted the city two statues. They are copies of Michelangelo’s statues of David and Moses…
