SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Families aren’t the only ones bracing for the potential of going without SNAP benefits if the shutdown continues. So are non-profits.
The shelves in the room where Church on the Street stores cans and boxes for its food pantry are bare following Monday’s food giveaway.
“As we’ve seen an increase in people coming, we’ve also seen a decrease in the amount of food that we can access because of the USDA cuts. Throughout the year, we’ve seen people coming in more and less access to food, which is hard,” Church on the Street Deacon Mara Stillson said.
