SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A Sioux Falls man has been arrested for attempted murder after a man was shot inside an apartment earlier this month.
Man charged with attempted murder in downtown shooting
Doap Deng Chuol, 40, is charged with attempted murder, two counts of aggravated assault and illegal possession of firearm because of a drug conviction.
On October 8 around 5 a.m. Chuol and the victim were inside an apartment in east Sioux Falls when a bystander called police and reported that “someone shot themselves in another room,” according to court documents. Police responded to 2600 East 8th Street. When police responded, they discovered the victim injured with a gunshot wound. The victim told police that somebody had shot him.
The victim was taken to a hospital with serious injuries but non-life threatening.
Officers found a wallet with an ID card belonging to Chuol, when they searched the room. Some time later, Chuol contacted Metro Communications from a nearby apartment and told police he wanted to turn himself in and that might “accuse me,” court documents said…
