SD Urban Indian Health receives $11M operations contract

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – South Dakota Urban Indian Health (SDUIH) is receiving an $11 million operating contract from Indian Health Service to operate Pierre and Sioux Falls clinics for the next five years.

According to a press release from SDUIH, the funding is an Indian Health Service appropriation that’s separate from federal funding, used to keep tribal hospitals and clinics funded.

“It is no secret that the road has been bumpy for us here at ‘Urban’ for the past couple of years,” SDUIH Executive Director Collete Keith said.
