Christmas at the Cathedral is set to sound better than ever this year, because St. Joseph’s Cathedral just unveiled its brand-new, world-class pipe organ.
This massive musical upgrade has been years in the making. The design and planning process stretched over multiple seasons, with organizers meticulously shaping every detail. According to Dakota News Now, the project brought together some of the finest woodworkers and metal craftsmen on the planet to build the instrument essentially from the ground up.

Now, all that effort is paying off.
Seeing the organ finally installed and performing exactly as envisioned has been a deeply rewarding moment for everyone involved. Cathedral Music Director Jared Ostermann told Dakota News Now that the new instrument is far more responsive, offering a broader range of color, dynamics, and expression. In his words, every aspect of playing it is “over the top.”
