Here we go again. Another weekend and another snow event is expected to drop several inches of snow on Sioux Falls on Saturday.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Weather Advisoryin effect from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM Saturday, December 5, 2025. The Advisory area includes Sioux Falls, as well as Brookings, Mitchell, Piperstone, Sioux City, Yankton, and Vermilion.

“A widespread 2-5″ of snow is expected Saturday with the highest amounts arriving on Saturday afternoon from Highway 81 eastward into southeast SD and northwest IA. A few pockets of 6+” are possible,” – NWS
When Will the Snow Start?
The snow is expected to start in Sioux Falls Saturday morning and continue through the evening. The snow could be heavy at times, especially in the afternoon. As of Friday, the forecast is calling for four to six inches of snow in Sioux Falls.
