SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Sanford and Avera hospitals have released the most popular boy and girl baby names for 2025.

In a news release from Sanford Health, the top girl name was Emma. The top boy name was Liam, jumping two spots from the 2024 ranking.
For girls, Lainey and Charlotte tied in second place for the most popular girls’ name. Lainey was the most popular name in 2024. The name Ella claimed the number four slot, with the name Ellie finishing off the top five.
For boys, Oliver was the second most popular name, dropping one spot from the 2024 ranking. The name Theodore came in third place, up one spot from 2024, while Leo was ranked in fourth place. There was a four-way tie for fifth place for the names William, Noah, Jack and James…
