SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) has awarded the City of Sioux Falls a $1.99 million grant to enhance public transportation infrastructure.
The money will go towards the construction of new bus shelters and renovating existing bus stops along Sioux Area Metro (SAM) routes, according to a news release from the City of Sioux Falls.
The grant comes from the FTA’s Bus and Low or No Emission Grant Program that aims to modernize transit systems and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The program funds state and local government agencies to purchase/lease zero and low-emission buses.
