SFPD: 66-year-old out $60k in scam

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A Sioux Falls resident was scammed out of more than $60,000 over the course of eight months.

3 hospitalized in crash involving Norfolk Police Division unit

The victim, 66, reported to police that he had been communicating with a woman over a messaging app since May of 2025. The woman offered him a credit card that had a supposed $3 million.

The $3 million was framed as a “donation” to the victim, who is currently a cancer patient. The victim was told he needed to send money to the scammer to receive the fake credit card.

The victim told police that he sent the woman over 60,000 over the span of the eight months via Apple gift cards…
