SD Housing awards more than $60 mil for affordable housing

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – South Dakota Housing recently awarded more than $60 million to affordable housing programs and projects throughout the state. That includes $59.4 million that will support the construction and rehabilitation of 15 housing developments.

In this Your Money Matters, we take a look at one of those projects and find out how important these grants are for its development.

Woman convicted of murder, attempted murder

The empty lot along 11th Street and Summit Avenue in Sioux Falls will eventually be the location of a multi-use building that will have Southeastern Behavioral offices as well as 55 units of affordable housing options. The developer behind the project is Lloyd Companies.

“Improving the quality of life is our mission statement and we truly believe in improving that quality of life, not just for people that can afford to live in market rate housing but for everybody in our community,” Mark Quasney, President of Development at Lloyd Companies, said. “The partnership with the state and with the individual owners of these projects is huge for us to be able to provide very needed affordable housing to people.”…
