One hurt when semi hits pickup by Lester

LESTER—One person was injured in a two-vehicle collision about 10:25 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15, at the intersection of 180th Street and Dove Avenue, about three miles south of Lester.

Forty-seven-year-old James Joseph Boyda of Sioux Falls, SD, was driving east on 180th Street when he failed to stop for a stop sign and his 2008 Chevrolet Silverado pickup was struck by a northbound 2012 Freightliner Cascadia semi with a trailer driven by 65-year-old Kyle Ken Knobloch of Luverne, MN, according to the Iowa State Patrol.

Boyda was transported by the Lyon County Ambulance to Avera Merrill Pioneer Hospital in Rock Rapids and later airlifted to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls…
