ROCK RAPIDS, IA (KELO) — In a place where the law is usually upheld, the law was broken overnight.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says someone went inside the courthouse in Rock Rapids, Iowa and left behind so much damage that the building could be shut down for the rest of the week.

Anyone who tried getting into the Lyon County Courthouse Wednesday was met with crime tape in front of entrances, a sign on the door saying it’s closed and patrol cars outside. Dan Kruse lives across the street.
“I left the house around 7:30 a.m., and I stopped at school when I got done, and someone was asking me what was going on at the courthouse, and I said, ‘Why?’ Then, they were telling me the police presence was there, the sheriffs were there and that something was going on,” Kruse said.
