Community Learning Centers grow & provide engaging, safe spaces for students

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – Community Learning Centers are designed to be more than just a safe place for kids to go before or after the school bell rings.

District leaders say the programs provide structured, enriching environments where students can continue learning outside the traditional school day. Rebecca Wimmer, the district’s coordinator of community partnerships and afterschool programs, said the centers serve students year-round and focus on both academic and personal growth.

“So that might be after school, it might be before school, it might be during summer hours, but really a place where kids can continue to experience different things, they can continue to learn, build social skills, but then another really important piece for Community Learning Centers is that concept of family and community building,” Wimmer said…
