Jackley weighs legislation to deter prison drug smuggling

South Dakota’s top law enforcement officer wants greater deterrents for smuggling drugs into the state’s prisons.

Attorney General Marty Jackley announced in a Dec. 19 press conference that Natalie Bernice Krause, a former medical aide at the South Dakota State Penitentiary, and Cole Robert Waters, an inmate at the prison, have been indicted in connection with a drug distribution scheme that resulted in the death of Travis Long Fox, another prison inmate.
