SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Lutheran Social Services announced because the city of Sioux Falls cut funding, the future of the Multi-Cultural Center is now uncertain.
LSS of South Dakota was notified by the city on Friday, Dec. 19, that it would no longer financially support the Multi-Cultural Center, according to a news release from the LSS of South Dakota.
Current funding ends Dec. 31. The elimination of financial support creates significant uncertainty for the future of the Multi-Cultural Center and the annual Festival of Culture.

“The City of Sioux Falls has funded the Multi-Cultural Center for 28 years, and the sudden endof funding is a blow the program can’t absorb,” Rebecca Kiesow-Knudsen, president andCEO of LSS South Dakota, which operates the Multi-Cultural Center, said in the news release. “While it’s possible a donor could come forward to support the program in the short term, it needs ongoing financial support to remain sustainable.
