16 SD counties to hold January sobriety checkpoints

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The South Dakota Highway Patrol has released the 16 counties in which they’ll be conducting sobriety checkpoints in January.

In a press release from the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, the checkpoints will take place in Beadle, Brookings, Brown, Clay, Davison, Day, Hamlin, Hanson, Hughes, Jones, Lawrence, Lincoln, Lyman, Meade, Pennington, and Spink counties.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol and local law enforcement will be conducting the checks. Drivers are encouraged to not drink and drive, even if there isn’t a checkpoint being conducted in their county.
