SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Here’s a look at this morning’s top stories for KELOLAND On the Go.

More than 100 years ago, it was known as the Battle of Wounded Knee. Today, the battle is rarely used as historical records, including national references, call it the Wounded Knee Massacre. A ceremony on Monday acknowledged a federal law that places 40 acres of the site under federal protection.

Police are asking the public’s help in identifying a man who robbed someone at knifepoint Saturday. At Monday’s police briefing, Sioux Falls Police spokesman Sgt. Aaron Benson said the robbery happened just after 10:30 p.m. Saturday near 41st Street and Gateway Boulevard.

Two Christmas tree drop-offs are staying open until January 4. Drop sites are located at the west side of the Household Hazardous Waste Facility, on East Chambers Street. The other is located south of the fairgrounds, on North Lyon Boulevard. Hours for both sites are Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
