Fareway Stores Inc. has revealed that it will not renew its lease and cease operation of its Fareway Meat Market in Luverne, Minn., on Jan. 17.
Located at 220 West Main Street, the 2,300-square-foot Fareway Meat Market opened in September 2022 as “an experiment.” It was the first stand-alone Meat Market in Minnesota, offering the high-quality, reasonably priced meat that Fareway is known for.
The company cited various reasons for the store’s imminent closure, including that its much smaller size, compared with other Fareway Meat Markets, restricted product offerings; site constraints prohibited expansion; and insufficient sales didn’t justify acquisition of the property or new construction at an alternative location…
