A look at Shape Sioux Falls 2050

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – Following nearly two years of public engagement and writing plan updates, the Shape Sioux Falls 2050 comprehensive development plan is in its final draft.

The City of Sioux Falls has been creating comprehensive growth plans since 1950 as a means to help guide future development as more people continue to come here.

“In 1950, our population was 52 thousand people, today it’s just under 220 (thousand), and by 2050 it could be in that 370, 375 thousand with 460 thousand people in the MSA. With that kind of growth, the planning and being ready for that kind of growth is critical,” Jeff Eckhoff, the City’s Planning and Development Services Director, said.
