SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – Opening statements have set the stage for a Sioux Falls murder trial from a September 2024 death in a case which involves mental health, substance use and an admission from the defendant of taking someone’s life.
Dylan Farmer stands accused of killing Casey Shaffer. He has pleaded not guilty to both first- and second-degree murder charges.
The prosecution told the seated jury on Monday at the Minnehaha County Courthouse that Farmer had gone to the Minnehaha County Jail and stated he witnessed a murder.
