One critically injured in Sturgis parking lot crash

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Several juveniles were hurt, with one critically injured, following a crash that happened at Sturgis Brown High School.

Sturgis Police Chief Geody Vandwater told a Sturgis radio station Meade County dispatch received a call around 8:30 p.m. Sunday reporting an accident in the parking lot of the Sturgis High School. The caller stated that multiple juveniles were involved, several with minor injuries, and one individual was trapped underneath the vehicle and unresponsive.

Officers and deputies responded, extricated the patient, and initiated lifesaving measures until Sturgis Amulance arrived. The patient was transported to Sturgis Hospital and then airlifted to Rapid City.
