SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Prosecutors and the defendant have reached a plea deal in the case of a deadly 2024 Sioux Falls crash which took the lives of two Sioux Falls teenagers and injured several others.
Damion Laurelez has agreed to plead guilty to two counts of first degree manslaughter. The state has agreed to dismiss second-degree manslaughter, vehicular homicide and other charges in exchange for the guilty pleas. Per the plea agreement, the state will not recommend more than a 30-year sentence. Laurelez has pleaded guilty to two counts, and the state will recommend the two sentences run at the same time.
