SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – When John Morrell, now Smithfield, first came to Sioux Falls over 100 years ago, the location made sense. At that point it sat on the very north edge of town.

Since then, the city has expanded and grown around it. Now, Smithfield will be making a move that puts the plant back on the north edge of town.
It seems sitework is already beginning on the eventual location of a new Smithfield Foods facility, which will hug 471st Avenue and Highway 130 right before the Crooks city line.
