It feels like more animals across the Sioux Empire are looking for second chances. And for some pets, their time is running out to find a happy ending.
Kayden is currently waiting for his “fur-ever” home at the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society. He’s a little older than most pets waiting inside the shelter.

Kayden is a Terrier and Retriever mix that has been hoping someone would choose him. He is six years old, and potential adopters have overlooked this “good boy.”
Staff at the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society have said Kayden is one of the most polite dogs you’ll ever meet. He responds to commands, remains calm around other dogs, and works through distractions. Kayden also just passed his Canine Good Citizen test. He’s the complete opposite of a bad dog!
The Sioux Falls Area Humane Society recently shared Kayden’s story in a Facebook post. This sweet boy has been in the shelter for over 5,000 hours and 226 days.
Time is not slowing down for Kayden. Being at the shelter is taking a toll on him mentally. He’s not perfect, but that doesn’t mean he is not worthy of love…
