Police Warn Of Church Parking Lot Burglaries In Sioux Falls

If you’re under the assumption that your car is safe while you are inside a church saying a prayer or singing a hymn, Sioux Falls police say it might be time to add “lock the doors and hide your valuables” before going inside to worship.

Authorities are currently investigating a troubling string of vehicle burglaries taking place in church parking lots across the city. According to Dakota News Now, officers are searching for a man suspected of smashing car windows and stealing valuables from vehicles while they’re parked in church lots.

One of the latest incidents happened on February 14 near East 26th Street and South Cleveland Avenue. In that case, the victim reported cash, credit cards, and other personal items stolen from their vehicle. Police say the suspect didn’t waste any time putting those stolen cards to use, allegedly going on a shopping spree at several stores around the Sioux Empire.
