Throwback Thursday: 100 years of the State Theatre

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – On this edition of Throwback Thursday, Lori Kent with the Local Lou Podcast teaches us about the State Theatre.

“The State Theatre, my love, is turning 100 on Tuesday, so it’s a really exciting time. The state theater opens up in 1926, and it is the star of downtown. It is one of many theaters, but it was always made to be a showstopper. It’s drop-dead gorgeous inside,” said Kent.

“For decades, it has enjoyed tons and tons of success. It’s vaudeville, it’s silent movies, it’s movies, it just keeps going. But then, ot hits a little bit of a dark spot, and it goes dark for 30 years.”…
