Driver Licensing Stations Temporarily Closed in Three Area Communities

{KXLG, Pierre, SD} Following the recent closure of several driver licensing exam stations, the South Dakota Department of Public Safety is urging residents to prioritize early planning for license renewals and other credential needs. The department issued a formal statement advising the public to account for potential delays after stations in Madison, Milbank, and Webster were shuttered effective February 24.

According to SDDPS Communications Director Brad Reiners, these closures are intended to be temporary. He noted that the decision to halt operations at these specific locations was necessitated by recent staffing shortages. While the department works to fill those vacancies and restore services to the affected communities, residents are being redirected to alternative locations.

For those displaced by the closures, Reiners highlighted that the Watertown and Brookings stations remain available from Tuesday through Friday, while the Sioux Falls office continues its full Monday through Friday schedule.
