SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Over the weekend, bombers from Ellsworth Air Force Base were used in US strikes targeting Iran. U.S. Central Command shared a video to X of the B-1 Lancers. Several South Dakota officials, including Governor Larry Rhoden and Representative Dusty Johnson, also took to X and confirmed that the B-1s were from Box Elder.
“As far as our involvement from Ellsworth, you know, it makes me proud of our state and the contribution that we’re making to those efforts for world peace,” said Governor Larry Rhoden.

A local veteran, who served in the Coast Guard for 30 years, can relate to the deployment.
“Got the opportunity to go over to Bahrain, and we were part of our law enforcement detachments that were riding the Navy ships doing the oil embargo.
