SFPD: Victim scammed out of $2,000

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A person posing as a Lincoln County Deputy scammed a victim out of $2,000.

According to Sioux Falls Police Sgt. Aaron Benson, a victim received a call from a person posing as a Lincoln County Deputy. The poser told the victim she had missed jury duty and had to pay $2,000 by putting cash in a crypto ATM.

The victim followed with the request, and after the fact, the victim realized it was a scam.

There are no arrests, and the incident is still under investigation…
