SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – Construction on Minnesota Avenue between 2nd and 8th Street has officially started today. They are going to be replacing aging pipes while also repaving the road above. Officials ask for patience during this time as it’s going to take several months to complete.
This is Phase Two of the Minnesota Avenue Improvements Project that originally began in spring of 2022 which was from Russell St to 2nd St. There will be about 4 or 5 phases of reconstruction on Minnesota Avenue.
“Probably the bigger part of the project that a lot of people aren’t going to see when it’s all done but is really going to take the lion’s share of the time is all of the underground utility work that needs to be completed,” said Brad Ludens, Principal Engineer at City of Sioux Falls. “We have a sanitary sewer line, three different water main lines, and a storm drainage system that will be repaired and upsized and improved throughout the project corridor.”…
