SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – The Sioux Falls School Board praised the passage of a school lunch bill, while expressing frustration with this year’s South Dakota legislative session during Monday’s meeting.
Board members spent significant time applauding the passage of a school lunch bill brought again this year by Democrat Rep. Kadyn Wittman. The measure received rare bipartisan support in Pierre. The decision to sign the bill into law now rests with Republican Gov. Larry Rhoden.
“It’s awesome that it passed,” Elizabeth Duffy said at Monday’s meeting. “Food insecurity is a real thing, and to the extent we can focus on educating kids and know that food is taken care of, it helps us with our end goals.”…
