Point-in-time: Sioux Falls sees 3.2% drop in homelessness

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — For the time being, Scott Ramociotti is a guest at the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House in central Sioux Falls, which offers shelter to people who might otherwise be out in the elements.

“I’ve never had to stay a night on the street, so very fortunate there,” Ramociotti said Wednesday.

The numbers are in from the annual point-in-time snapshot of how many people were experiencing homelessness in Sioux Falls. And while it only measures one evening in January, 2026’s data displays a positive trend.

Sioux Falls’ 2026 point-in-time measurement counted 562 sheltered people and 43 unsheltered people for a total of 605. This is a comparative decline when compared with the 565 sheltered and 60 unsheltered people tallied in 2025 as well as the 573 sheltered and 37 unsheltered individuals counted in 2024…
