SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Two big topics relating to Smithfield’s move to Foundation Park were on the Sioux Falls City Council’s agenda Tuesday tonight: the plant’s conditional use permit and the proposed $90 million tax financing package.
A large crowd filled Carnegie Town Hall to make their voices heard. Between comments from the public and the council, discussion regarding Smithfield’s conditional use permit in the northwest edge of Sioux Falls alone lasted more than two hours.
Homeowners living near Foundation Park once again brought up concerns with the odor and traffic the new plant could bring. Others asked to receive home buyouts similar to the buyouts other people received from the Sioux Falls Development Foundation…
