Deputies from the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office responded to a crash on March 19, 2026, around 9:28 PM on 420th Street, about two miles northeast of Hawarden. A 2021 Jeep Wrangler driven by Lisa Jo Nafziger, 47, of Sioux Falls, SD, went off the road into a ditch. Deputies determined Nafziger was under the influence of alcohol. She was treated for minor injuries at Hawarden Regional Healthcare and later arrested for Operating While Intoxicated, First Offense. The Hawarden Police Department, Hawarden Ambulance, and Hawarden Fire Department assisted at the scene.
