A staple Sioux Falls dive, Top Hat Bar, announced that it will close its doors at the end of the year but owners are already in the process of reopening at a different location, according to a March 10, 2026, Facebook post.
The post relayed that its building lease will not be renewed, forcing the business to close in December 2026. The Top Hat bar has operated at its current location at 508 S. 1st Ave. in downtown Sioux Falls since 1954.
Current owner, Andrea Shaw, said since she purchased the bar from the original owners in 2006, her “goal has been simple: keep it the same kind of bar people have loved for generations.”
