Storm Center AM Update: Warm Into Monday; More Active Late Week

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) — Dry and warm conditions are on the way for KELOLAND once more, but the one saving grace will be a lack of strong winds.

While it’ll be at least a bit brisk at times, we won’t have to deal with the gusty winds that were a thorn in our sides on Saturday. With that said, however, fire weather concerns remain elevated. Please continue to exercise caution with any and all heat sources. That includes items as small as a discarded cigarette.

Unseasonable warmth will linger through at least Monday, with highs in southern and southeastern KELOLAND approaching and even exceeding 80 degrees once more. To the north, it’ll be warm with 60s and 70s. A frontal boundary will pass going into Tuesday, sending a low-end scattered rain shower chance through the region. It’ll also send temperatures tumbling down into the 40s and 50s for the day.

We’ll stay in the 40s and 50s for the most part as we head through the second half of the work and school week, though a brief spike is possible on Thursday.

April also gets off to a more active start, with rain and snow shower chances moving into the picture beginning on Wednesday and lasting through at least Friday into Saturday. While some days have better chances than others, it’ll be a welcome sight considering the drought conditions that we’re already seeing. We’ll also have to watch the temperature profile during this time.
