South Dakota man found guilty of attempted first-degree murder law enforcement officer

UNION COUNTY, S.D. (KCAU) — A jury has found a Sioux Falls man guilty on multiple charges in Union County.

On March 18, Samir Albaidhani, 25, was convicted of seven felony charges:

  • Three counts of Attempted First-Degree Murder of a Law Enforcement Officer
  • Three counts of Aggravated Assault Against a Law Enforcement Officer
  • Aggravated Eluding

In April 2025, after being pulled over in a stolen vehicle in Sioux Falls, Albaidhani fled on foot, eventually firing shots at officers.

Albaidhani was later located on Interstate 29 near Beresford in a second stolen vehicle. He again ran on foot, at one point falling and reaching for a weapon. That was when officers responded with gunfire…
