Man charged for harming K9 in Tuesday shooting

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – The Sioux Falls man arrested in connection to a officer-involved shooting has a warrant for a new charge.

Online records show that a warrant has been issued for Richard Olson Jr. for the following charge: Intentionally injure, torment or strike a law enforcement service animal.

The bond amount on the warrant is set at 500-thousand dollars.

Officers found him in a vehicle near the intersection of Russell Street and Minnesota Avenue on Tuesday. When police tried arresting Olson, authorities say he revealed a gun. Two officers shot at Olson. He was then apprehended by a police K-9 unit as he tried getting away…
