(Fairmont, MN)–A Sioux Falls man is facing multiple felony charges after a traffic stop late last month in Martin County.
According to the criminal complaint, on March 27th, a motorist on I-90 reported a vehicle stopped on the shoulder and seeing a man fall into the ditch. Upon arrival, law enforcement personnel identified the driver as 47-year-old Joseph Makwat, of Sioux Falls.
A preliminary breath test indicated a blood alcohol concentration of 0.365. Makwat reportedly asked for transportation to a hospital, but refused to submit to a blood or urine test after a search warrant was obtained. The vehicle Makwat was driving had been reported stolen from a dealership in Sioux Falls. The vehicle had previously been repossessed from the defendant for non-payment.
