Sioux Falls Reptile Adventure Zoo is a sanctuary and pet store all wrapped into one. Some of the most exotic creatures call it home, including a new, giant lizard all the way from Tanzania.

What’s A Black Throated Monitor?

Funny enough: These lizards are known to be “gentle giants.” Even though these reptiles are big, they tend to have dog-like personalities. They can easily be trained and show affection, especially towards experienced keepers. This Sioux Falls Gentle Giant Big Al could get up to seven feet long and weigh over 60 pounds, woah!

Staff at the Reptile Adventure Zoo are super excited to bring Big Al to Sioux Falls as a permanent resident. They introduced him to the Sioux Empire in a Facebook post.
