SD Crash Kills Mitchell Man, Sioux Falls Woman Sunday

Two people died in a single-vehicle crash Sunday evening six miles southwest of Corsica, SD (90 miles west of Sioux Falls). Names of those involved have not been released as family is being notified.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol’s preliminary crash information details a 2016 Ford Fusion traveling eastbound on SD Highway 44. Shortly before 6 p.m., the vehicle left the roadway and entered the south ditch. The vehicle hit a field approach, vaulted over a fence, then rolled, coming to rest in the field.

The 52-year-old male driver from Mitchell, South Dakota and a 72-year-old female passenger from Sioux Falls died at the scene. Two other passengers – both females in their 30’s from Sioux Falls – were life-flighted to a Sioux Falls hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
