Watertown native’s sculpture featured in Sioux Falls art walk

Three members of the Northern State University community, including a Watertown native, are participating in the 23rd annual SculptureWalk Sioux Falls exhibition.

Graduating senior Daria Poor, assistant professor of art Tim Rickett and alumnus Darwin Wolf each have pieces in the exhibition, according to a community announcement.

Poor, according to her Instagram site, grew up in Watertown. Currently, she said in an art department booklet, she is focused on the idea of simple living and rural family life. Family is a primary focus of her work. She continues to work in Watertown with commissions and art fairs.

Poor’s sculpture, “The Farmer,” is installed at Eighth Street and Railroad Avenue. The life-sized metal piece, which depicts her grandfather, was created during a sculpture class at Northern and was her first welded sculpture. It was also featured in her spring senior thesis exhibition, “Simple Living.” Poor is the youngest artist exhibiting in this year’s show, which typically features established professionals…
