SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A 20-year-old man was arrested after a stand-off in Sioux Falls Friday afternoon.
Robert Yellowbird of Sioux Falls was arrested on a parole hold after he eventually left a residence after about 90 minutes. Sioux Falls Police provided some details of the incident during Monday’s briefing. The standoff happened after deputies with the Minnehaha County warrant task force and detectives of the Sioux Falls Police violent crime unit went to the area of 7th Street and North Nesmith Avenue for an armed parole absconder at about 2:30 p.m. Friday.
The deputies were able to get the people inside the residence with the absconder outside. The absconder refused to come out, which led to an armed barricaded situation. The SFPD emergency response team was dispatched to assist, which briefly closed roads in that area.
