Man pleads guilty to downtown Spokane arson, sentenced to over five years

SPOKANE, Wash. – The man accused of lighting fires around downtown Spokane last summer was sentenced to 63 months in prison after pleading guilty to three counts of arson.

Chad Horne was arrested by Spokane police in July 2025 as the main suspect believed to be responsible for intentionally setting fires at locations stretching from the Kendall Yards grocery store My Fresh Basket to the Washington State University Spokane parking lots.

The Spokane County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office said surveillance video showed Horne throwing items and knocking over planters at My Fresh Basket the morning of the fires. Other footage and reports tracked Horne being observed at the scene of each fire that morning…
