SPOKANE, Wash. — The criminal trial for former Spokane County sheriff’s deputy Clay Hilton is expected to begin early next week with jury selection scheduled for Monday.
A defense filing submitted on June 11, 2026 gave a preview of Hilton’s strategy. His attorneys said he planned to argue self-defense and seek indemnification and reimbursement from the city and state.
