Spokane Valley police arrest suspect for alleged animal cruelty charges

  • Spokane Valley Police Department arrested a man for alleged animal cruelty after witnesses reported him throwing, hitting, and abusing a 12-week-old puppy, leading to felony and misdemeanor charges.

Spokane Valley Police Department (SVPD) says it has taken a man into custody for alleged animal cruelty on Wednesday.

SVPD says at 8:30 p.m., deputies and a SCRAPS Officer responded to reports of animal abuse in the 300 block of S. Skipworth Road. According to a press release, the caller says that 39-year-old Christopher R. Myers threw, hit and abused a 12-week-old white and brown puppy, which caused it to cry and yelp.

Police say once the deputies and the SCRAPS Officer arrived on scene, they contacted witnesses and the puppy’s owners, Myers and an adult woman. Witnesses gave officials written statements that detailed the abuse along with supporting evidence…
