PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — A more than 20,000-acre wildfire continued to burn across grass and brush Tuesday south of Yakima, Washington, and a nearly 300-acre fire erupted just east of Spokane, where evacuation orders were put into effect as the flames threatened homes.
The Tule Road Fire started on Sunday south of Yakima and about five miles south of the town of Toppenish and quickly grew.
The Northwest Interagency Coordination Center said the blaze demonstrated “extreme fire behavior with uphill and wind driven runs.”…
